“… let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”

This week the third quarter earnings start coming in and we begin to find out how companies are projecting their year-end. This is also when those who are not doing so well start shedding cost and headcount.  Those who are more sensitive to their employees know they need to do this before the holidays so if things are going to happen, they happen soon.  This week I have seen reductions in force announcements from Turner Broadcasting, a couple of banks and of course the splitting up of HP.  The fourth quarter is always where the action is and we can expect more to come.  Hang on, stay calm and all will be known soon.

The fourth quarter of the year is also a good time to check ourselves and be sure that we aren’t carrying into the end of the year any extra wight and baggage that will obstruct us from being and becoming closer and closer to God. Sometimes we have to prune and drop the figurative weights that are holding us back. Now is the time.  We can use this time of the year to fix, release and remove some of that stuff!
