day 3K159: Qualified

“Aaron will be your spokesman to the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him, telling him what to say.”

Maybe, now more than any time in US history, since the advent of the GI Bill after World War II that began the swell of college education (which led companies to begin requiring college degrees as an indicator of being “qualified”) are we seeing employers taking a chance on those not “qualified” and instead being willing to train and develop those without proven skills and experiences.  Online platforms like YouTube and Google are now advertising how their technologies allow individuals to seek out new careers and gain their own qualifications and certificates for new jobs and careers.  What was once thought of as qualified, has changed and we are taking greater risks on people to meet our employment needs.  This is great for those who are young and inexperienced and also for those ready and willing to learn to change careers.  It is not an easy task to train and have the patience to see someone develop, but the loyalty and commitment that might come from it, could far outweigh the negatives.

Yesterday in church a young intern pastor spoke.  I missed whether this was a quote of someone else or the pastor’s own words.  They were: “God doesn’t call the qualified.  He qualifies the called.”  I love that.  Even Moses, when called, didn’t think he had the qualifications to lead.  God fixed that by giving him Aaron to speak for him. It begs us to ask ourselves today, what are we being called to do by God that we are hesitating on because we don’t think we are qualified?  In God’s mind, there is no such thing as He truly is the God of providing all the qualifications we need.
