day 2256: Comings and Goings

“I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too—your reassuring presence, coming and going.”

I read an interview with a small business owner from Wisconsin who said that he now spends over a third of his time interviewing and recruiting.  He has to, by necessity, pay extreme attention to the “comings” in his business. While some of that recruiting activity is occurring from business expansion, invariably, a portion is happening because of the need to replace workers who have left the business.  These are the “goings” and the question we should also be asking is, are we paying as much attention to stemming the “going” as we are in attracting the “coming”.

We have comings and goings in our work and lives. New responsibilities, jobs, things and people come into our lives and the same can be going without notice or warning.  David gives us a glimpse of God’s promise to be with us in all the “comings” and “goings” of our lives. It’s up to us to recognize, appreciate and accept His constant presence.
