day 3K181: Unavoidable Troubles

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”

There are troubles that are unavoidable.  Like the seven hours I spent in an airport yesterday trying to get on a delayed flight caused by bad weather.  That turned into a very bumpy flight and last night spent in Washington, DC. versus being back to our place in Rhode Island as planned.  A present trouble that felt big at the time, but in the larger picture just a small trouble that didn’t last very long.  It’s what we deal with each and every day.  The question we have to ask ourselves is are we keeping those troubles in perspective or allowing what is small and over quickly to become something more than it needs to be?

We are fortunate that we serve a God who turns trouble into glory.  You see, when we turn these troubles over to Him, we can’t help but see how it all comes together and give Him the glory of working us through them. That relinquishing of our troubles is called faith and we know that our faith can get stronger and stronger as we exercise it daily.  So, today’s troubles are just another faith workout that builds us up.
