day 1452: Ask!

“Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.”

“Why didn’t you just ask?”  When we hear this at work, it’s not good.  What it means is that we didn’t ask for directions, or ask for clarification, or ask for permission, or the worst, we failed after not asking for help. Why is it so hard for us to ask for help or assistance (or if you are a guy to ask for directions)?  We don’t like to ask questions that we don’t already have the answer and we don’t want to show a vulnerability of lack of knowledge, lack of time, lack of expertise, or lack of confidence by asking for help.  But, we have to do so and when we see others asking, we need to reinforce this in a positive way.  If two heads are really better than one, then shouldn’t reward those that ask out to others?

Last week in church the pastor taught on the verses in Matthew Chapter 15.  The teaching started with the recognition that many don’t like to teach on the Gentile Woman because it is one place where Jesus turns way more than once someone who is pleading and He does it because He was working with the Jewish people at the time, not Gentiles. But even in this account, we see a Jesus who listens to those who have enough faith to keep asking, even when it doesn’t seem like God is there for us at the time.  I took away that we should be in continuous bringing to God all that we need and never, ever, be afraid to ask.  What at work today do we need to ask Him for His support or intervention.?  He will respond with what we are to be given! We just have to ask!
