“There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?”
I know a successful entrepreneur, growing a service business far beyond what he might have imagined only a few years ago. He is also his own boss, not having to answer to shareholders or a Board. As such, we were talking about how he, and others who are at his level, or even beyond the time in their career where they would work for someone else, don’t have to ready or prepare things like reports, proposals, speeches, etc. for others. What we wondered was does that lack of requirement cause us to lose an edge? We both agreed that it is important to find places in life where we still need to prepare as that preparation along with the nervousness that comes with that preparation is something we should all strive to keep active so that we continue to grow and better ourselves. It might not be an issue today for many, but if we live long enough then we will all be faced with this phase of life.
Even Jesus reminded us of the importance of preparation when He said He was going to prepare a place for us. And, what better preparation for us to focus on today than preparing ourselves for a closer and closer walk with Him? Our preparation, it is eternal!
