day 1985: All In

“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”

When we ask someone to join our company, what we are really saying is, “I need you to give me your all and I am willing to pay for it.”  But we don’t say that usually.  Instead we try to tell those new employees how we want them to work, what we want them to do, and then we put them to work.  But, what if we just asked our employees to give us their all and then let them come back and tell us what that means, how they will do it, what they need, and what it means to them?  We’d get all kinds of answers, approaches, schedules and needs, but most importantly, we would get someone’s all.  And what is the value you would put on that?

God doesn’t mince words does He?  He only asks that we love Him with all our heart, soul and strength.  That’s all.  🙂  But why does He ask for this from us, in this way?  It’s because there is no more joy and satisfaction than when we are giving our all.  No one gets excited, rushes out and tells others, “I’ve given half of my energy, half my skills and half my abilities and let me tell you, you should too”.  No, God knows that when we are all-in, we can’t help but tell and invite others to do the same.

So, are we all in?
