day 1582: Things Hard To Understand

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

I read this article last week in the New York Times.  The headline in the print version was “Computing is Closer With Qubits Put at Ease”.  I was curious with what a “Qubit” was so I read the article. But very quickly into the article I realized that I know nothing about anything that was written and the more I read it the further away I got from comprehending any of it.  But, I couldn’t stop reading it until I was all the way through. This article reminded me that there are really hard subjects and topics that it is so good that there are experts who understand and can tackle such complex problems.  It also reminded me that in each of our companies we need to remember and celebrate those who know more things that are really hard for others to comprehend.  Trust me, with the technologies that are coming we are all going to have many of these types of brain-forward people and if we don’t, then we should ask why not?

Aren’t we glad that we can have faith when we can’t understand the ways of God?  We don’t have to get frustrated or down on ourselves when we are faced with things that are too hard to grasp because we can know that God knows all and that can be enough for us.  What are we facing today that can’t be humanly understood that just needs to be handed over into God’s understanding? What is it today that our faith can only assure?
