day 2793: Going For A Walk

“One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat.”

How many steps during the workday did we take and are now taking when not in the office or commuting or walking around?  I’m sure someone, even in this reading group, has looked back on their Fitbits and iWatches and figured it out.  It’s a lot less, right?  There is a lot of good in movement, we know that, but we might not have known how good it was for our working attitudes until now. I’ve talked to many people who have had a harder time feeling energized and motivated and a common thread has been the lack of “movement” now versus before.  We will get back to some new normal, hopefully soon, and until then and even beyond, that short break walk, that stand up time, that stretch can make the difference on how much we get done, or not, in the hours to come.

Also, you might be interested in this short tutorial on the advantages of movement, provided by our local health service provider: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRu2u8ku0bQ&feature=youtu.be

While nothing to spiritually glean probably from it, but Jesus was a walker.  He was on His feet a lot and used movement from one place to another as he finished his work for the day.  We don’t have accounts of Jesus sleeping in or lazing around. I do think that He was signaling to us that our faith is an active one; out and about, not inward and contained. So, maybe what we need to do today is take a walk with Jesus.  Yes, on that next walk around the block or even into the yard for a bit, we can use that time to spend with Him letting and Him move in and with us.
