day 3K100: All Weather Ready

“Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

As a person who prefers to exercise outdoors, this quote has kept me outside more times than I can remember.   “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing” – Alfred Wainwright. This rings true in business as well as we all, at one point or another, run into a storm or rough patches.  And, like the real weather, we can be ready for what comes at us by “dressing” ourselves correctly. There are going to be times when we are going to need to pull out the heavier stuff and be ready to layer up.  When is the best time to be thinking about that?  Well, it’s certainly not when the rough stuff shows up, but well before then. So, that means if today things are smooth sailing,  we might want to carve out a little time to be sure that we have our plan in place for the next weather change.

Paul gives us direction on how to dress for our work (and success).  And just as suggested above, the times to be ready for when we will be challenged, tempted, have a setback, etc. is now by donning God’s wardrobe that He has provided for us.
