day 2090: Attention Span

“It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”

This post needs to be short.  The average attention span now is down to 8.3 seconds. That’s well short of the traditional 60 second commercial that we agonize over the creative and then spend big on the media purchase.  If 8.3 seconds is how long we have to grab someone’s attention, then consider how much harder it is to keep that attention.  We have to take this seriously.

How long will someone pay attention to the message of Jesus?  Well, it might be that if we are paying close attention to them personally and giving of ourselves unselfishly, then those small seeds and immediate acts of caring and love are all that are needed.  Can we commit ourselves to this level of attention today?
