day 2000: Shining A Light

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

This past weekend we witnessed yet again a terrorist attack on a major city of the world. As I have reflected on the event in Paris, what we call “The City of Light”, it becomes more and more obvious that there are those who want to not live in fear, and conversely, those that want to inflict terror so that others do live in fear.  And, when it comes down to it, those who don’t want to live in fear are going to need to all come together, lend a hand to each other and move against those who are committed to creating fear. I know it is much more complex than this, but I find myself, more understanding of anyone who is living in fear, and want to make sure that nothing I do, ever causes fear for another.  Fear can turn into a terrible weapon so no one should ever do anything that creates any fear for others.

Jesus told us how we are to conduct ourselves daily and it is far from creating fear. He instead said that we are to shine His light through our actions; through our good deeds.  Here is what we all know. Those that love others, those that do good deeds and lend their hands to help others, can create a feeling of security as others feel supported and cared for.  Is there someone in our life who is living with fear?  Of course there is, and today would be a great day for us to see what we can do to help through a difficult time.
