day 1924: Grafting

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”

If we wanted to plant a grape vineyard we would put the vine in and then graft in other vines to ensure the variety we desire.  We do something similar when we hire new people into our companies.  We are grafting in new thoughts, experiences and ways of working.  When it works, it is great and our companies are strengthened.  When it doesn’t work right, then we are actually hurting our companies and we weaken the culture, not strengthen it as we wanted when we were hiring.  So, each and every hire is a an opportunity to graft positively and to avoid a mistake.

We are God’s Kingdom grafts to the world.  If we live in this way and do all that we can to be in alignment with Christ’s teachings and follow and serve Him faithfully, then we strengthen the Kingdom. We can be the grafts that God is looking for to spread His message and love. Will we be that for Him today?
