day 2775: Active Minds

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

“The idle mind is the devil’s playground”, so we are told.  And when in our recent time has the whole world had so much idle time?  I am a big fan of the theory of displacement so when our minds are going to an idle place, we can displace those thought in our mind with those things that are good and active. I’ve had to actually go to filling in my calendar by the hour(s) for those things I want/need to do so that the active mind stays working, with no time to drift off into idle.

And yes, we are to fix out thoughts on certain things and in contrast, not let our mind drift to those what don’t fit the list:

  • True
  • Honorable
  • Right
  • Pure
  • Lovely
  • Admirable

Today, where will we fix our minds (and thus our words, actions, emotions)?
