day 2725: Good Among The Bad

“…For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

When it feels like things at work can’t get any worse, remember, especially that at this time of the year, there are those who would be happy beyond their wildest dreams to be in the jobs we are so fortunate to have. The happiness in our jobs ebb and flows, no matter how good it is in the best of times. The tide comes in, setting a high water mark, and then the tide goes out, until it comes back in again, which it always does.  The question we must ask ourselves is whether or not we are willing to wait and what will we do to make it better in the meantime?

Joseph, the great administrator, possibly the greatest #2 business person of the Bible, figured out that he could be productive (fruitful) and grateful in the worst of times and places. There had to be many times in Joseph’s life that he thought, “I’m finished with this!”  After all, he was dealt one bad hand after another, but what I love about his life story is that he didn’t run from where he was. Instead, he stayed right in the place that had been so hard and kept engaging.  And, then we know the rest of the story.  So, it might feel tough right now, but consider in the scheme of it all, that we can still be productive, which is what God wants us to be. He’ll take care of the rest.
