day 2637: Salt and Peace

“You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves and live in peace with each other.”

“Thanks for throwing salt on the wound!”  We say that because it hurts when someone makes a biting remark or points out something further that exasperates a problem we already know we have, or doesn’t let us forget a mistake we’ve made.  We don’t like it, but actually salt is good for a wound as salt is so good for so many things. A painful muscle or joint can be made better by soaking in Epsom salt.  So, the next time someone throws salt on a wound, think of it as just part of the healing that will soon take place.

“Salt and Light”, we talk about that a lot.  It’s how we are supposed to show up in the world.  But we are also to be “Salt and Peace”, which means we are to be comforters and healers.  When we fully embrace the qualities of being God’s salt in the workplace, we can become the people that others look to for all kinds of support, encouragement, coaching and learning. That’s also His salt.
