“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness…”
A trend has been to provide, “Summer Hours”. I was listening to someone who was new in her job, just out of college saying that it has been a “Great summer” as her workplace only has four-day weeks in the summer. But, as of today, those are over and it’s time to get back to business. If we are going to do something, then we should be serious about it. We don’t have to take ourselves seriously and be haughty, proud or domineering to still take our work seriously. Too many people go about their work as if what they are working on doesn’t matter beyond what they have been assigned. But, someplace, somewhere, each piece of work is important if we are to bring everything together to have success be achieved. Just because we can’t see where our piece of the jigsaw puzzle fits, doesn’t mean that the overall picture can be completed without us. It is on us to take our work seriously!
It’s easy to get lazy and sloppy in our spiritual journey. It can happen to the best of us. As we close off summer and many are “going back to school” this week effectively ending summer, now would be as good a time as any to re-engage and get back to being serious.
