day 2143: Wait For it

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”

Every year at this time there is a painting service company that we have used before who sends out their “Fall/Winter Special” discounts.  I come to count on it each year, and in fact so much, that I wouldn’t think about engaging them at any other time of the year as I’d be giving up 20-30% in discount.  Does this hurt them?  Not at all as they have balanced their business so they can do this annually as even at the lower cost they break even and more importantly they use these jobs to keep their painters employed year round.  Pretty smart on their part and I not only get the discount, I also feel like I am doing something good in assisting in keeping full-employment happening.  This should make us ask the question with what do we have that we can offer that feels so good and rewarding by getting a customer to wait for it?

Jesus was all about waiting for it.  At any time He could have pulled the plug on the whole plan and headed back Home and left us all to fend for ourselves.  We know that that was quite capable of happening as the chosen Angel, Lucifer, fell.  But, that wasn’t our Jesus.  He was willing to wait and bring us to Heaven with Him.  And so, we live a life of waiting for it too.  But, what we wait for is more than worth it all.  So, let’s not get ahead of what God has in store for us here in our jobs, careers, relationships, etc.  Instead, let’s be joyful in our waiting.
