day 2092: Insistence

“God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

“We insist”, they say emphatically.  And then we find ourselves being persuaded to do something that we don’t want to do.  Or, we ignore their insistence with the risk of offending them or hurting their feelings.  But, when we say we insist, we do so from a powerless place as it still is the other party who gets to make the final choice and decision.  When we say, “we insist” on doing something for a customer or a consumer, we should be sure that we understand what is driving their need for us to have to insist.

Do we recognize enough the gift it is that Jesus never insisted that we follow Him?  And that he doesn’t ask us to insist our beliefs on others?  It really is a gift and if we are going to accept that gift, then it is incumbent upon us to not take advantage of that gift, and do our best to walk in His footsteps and live as He invites us to do.  Today, when someone in the office becomes insistent, remember that we are supported by our Lord, who is just the opposite.
