day 2132: Iterating

“Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.”

There is a power in iteration.  Many times we think we have finished something, but it’s not until we talk it out with someone else, or let someone else look at what we have created or written, that we find that whatever it is still needs more work.  Even decisions are better when we have gone back and forth, adding to the data and the discussion in order to find the best solution.  Yet, what happens in most cases is that we wait until the very last-minute to submit or finish what has been given to us and then we go with that version because we think we know best, or we’ve run out of time, or worse, we have run out of patience.  By swallowing our pride and adding a little time for iteration, we can take anything we have to do and increase the chances that the final outcome will be better.

I feel like God has the ultimate patience with me when I know that I need lots of iteration.  When I am willing to go back to Him,and others who are in His spirit, to wrestle over a problem, a decision, an issue that keeps rising up, it is in those moments that they and He finds the best in me and I see the best in Him.  So, today, let’s not be fearful, impatient or ashamed to spend some time in iteration with those who can help us be wise and with the One who wants nothing more from us to but to reenter into relationship with Him.
