day 1968: Creative Confidence

“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”

I just finished the book, “Creative Confidence”, by David and Tom Kelley.  David founded the design firm, IDEO and his brother Tom has worked along side of David for many years.  It’s a great read and it reminds us that creativity is in no way confined to those departments or functions that are named to sound creative, like marketing and advertising.  We can all be creative in how we look at problems or see things differently for improvement or change.  How much creative confidence would you say that your organization has?  If you find yourself scratching your head, or wondering, then it might be time to pick up a copy of David and Tom’s book and then reconsider what can be done.

We are made in God’s image.  God was and is the great creator, so why would we doubt that we are creative?  When we have that urge to create something, might it not be that it is what God has put inside of us to live out His image?  The next time you feel really creative or have the urge to create something, anything, listen closely for it might be God calling on you to do something special and unique.
