day 1534: L.E.D.s

“Let me proclaim your power to this new generation.”

Patti says I am creating Shea Stadium in our kitchen (BTW, she’s dating herself each time she says it…I believe it is now Citi Field).  Each time a halogen burns out, I am replacing them with L.E.D. equivalents.  The packaging says that they are the same wattage output, but I do have to agree that they seem brighter.  Or maybe they aren’t, but it’s just the type of light that is emitted feel weird on the eyes.  We’ve started to see Taxis that now have their rooftop on duty light in L.E.D.s. The other night we couldn’t even make out the word Taxi as the lights just ran into each other.  It’s a new way of using power and we are going to have to adjust.  What I know is that within 10 years there will be a generation who has never seen an incandescent light and those old bulbs stuck in the back of the closet or drawer will become relics.  It wasn’t that long ago when a kid asked about a CRT (cathode ray tube) TV and asked what the hump was on the back?  He thought it pretty cool.  We laughed.  Literally and figuratively the power sources and ways of that power coming to us is changing.  Are we ready for what those changes will bring?

We change, but the power of God never has and never will.  Each new generation looks upon power structures differently, expecting change and advancements.  But, it is only God that does not change and His power stays consistent and strong through any struggle or darkness.  Let’s not stop identifying and being relevant to those coming behind us, but let’s keep God’s power just as relevant and strong in them as He has been in us.
