day 2696: Paying Attention

“My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.”

Did you see what happened to the Pope over the weekend?  He tweeted out Sunday morning about the canonizing of five people and he used this: #saints.  Well, Twitter didn’t know that Pope Francis was sending out a thank you for one thing so Twitter added the Saints NFL football team’s fleur-de-lis to his message (see below).  And well, you can only imagine the happy New Orleans fans who were grateful to have the Pope on their side.  🙂  The lesson here though is that we have to pay attention.  Technology is trying to help, but the consequences of not paying attention could end up not being just funny, but also the making of something really bad.  Yes, we have to pay attention.

Pope Francis @Pontifex
Today we give thanks to the Lord for our new #Saints. They walked by faith and now we invoke their intercession.

How attentive are we to what is happening around us that could be opportunities for us to minister to others or to add a person to our prayers?  We are to be attentive to our prayers and we are to keep our eyes and ears open to those in need.  By just being more attentive, we could be opening up opportunities that God wants to show us. And, on the flip side by paying attention, we may just avoid a situation where God is trying to protect us from slipping.
