Day 3K75: A Wordle Problem

“I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.”

Since Wordle hit the scene about 210 days ago the word game’s popularity has grown and grown.  More and more people play and talk about it.  It’s not a new phenomena as we had this same discussion about Pokeman Go and Candy Crush, but what if Wordle doesn’t come and go like others and it becomes the same as the daily crossword puzzles that millions of people solve all around the world daily?  What I find fascinating is that something simple and not overly marketed or promoted catches on and then grows and grows because it grabs us and we don’t let go.  What in our business or offerings to our consumers, customers or audience might we have that can catch the attention so much that they don’t want to let go?

I love to play Wordle.  But do I love it too much?  It comes daily and is waiting there for me when I wake up.  Lately, I have found that it is one of the first digital things I do for the day.  And sometimes, I have reached for the game before I have reached for my Bible.  That is a Wordle Problem.  And, it can extend even further with reaching for our phone before we reach for our time with The Lord.  I remember what the character of Wormwood was looking for in C.S. Lewis’ “The Screwtape Letters”.  Wormwood would have loved Wordle for its’ distracting quality.  Do we have a Wordle Problem with any of the areas that pull us away versus toward God?
