day 3K55: Searching For Value

“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”
Since 1939, founded in Scottsville, KY the Dollar General Store sold nothing that cost more than $1.00.  Today, with over 18,000 stores, that is changing.  Soon, the max price will be $1.25.  That is still great, but what once was a clear mark of value now becomes a marketing challenge.  For a while people will walk into the Dollar General Store expecting to pay no more than $1.00 and probably not feel all that good about what happens next at the price register.
When I think of what is true value (there is another retail chain store name for you) I think of what I receive that I don’t truly deserve and what exceeds my perspective of the quality or service from what I have paid.  That is why when we get caught up with what is of value in the world around us, we may be focused on the wrong thing.  The true and eternal value comes with what we gain when we are in relationship with Him!  And that is a value that keeps giving and giving.  So, let’s not focus on what we think we can earn or deserve but instead accept what has  been given for us.
