day 2208: Have You Heard The Hum?

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.”

In the 1970’s research and publications from England began detailing and describing something that can apparently only be heard by 2% of the population. It is called “The Hum”.  I personally can’t hear it and as I have read about it further, it may not be such a great thing to be able to hear.  Like having a ringing in the ear, “The Hum” can be very annoying.  And it is not just in England.  There are reports in Taos, New Mexico (where I used to spend a lot of time and I never heard it there either), Largs, Scotland and crazy enough, Kokomo, Indiana.  No one can explain what it is or why some can hear it and others can’t, but you can only imagine what it must be like to constantly hear a low hum all around you.  It might even drive one crazy.  Well, it’s not an audible sound but every company has their own “Hum”.  It’s the unspoken rules, the zeitgeist, the feeling, the fit, or just the vibe of a place.  And those who can pick up on it are the ones who seem to be able to understand what is going on or coming down earlier than others.  A company’s “hum” can be figured out, and once it is things become a lot clearer in making sense of sometimes what seems nonsensical.

Could it be that God left us with the Holy Spirit so that we could have our own personal “hum” to guide us throughout our days and lives?  Have you ever prayed for guidance and wisdom and then later you feel warmly assured in a decision?  Or what was seeming to be impossible to make sense of all of a sudden seems clear and the dots connect?  Is it too much to have faith that the Holy Spirit is always there as a “hum” for us, just waiting for us to tune in and listen ardently so that we can hear His will for us?  So, let’s today listen up to see if we can hear it!
