day 1937: The Netflix of __________

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.”

Netflix has us conditioned.  We will pay a monthly fee for as much of something good as we can get.  With Netflix we can gorge out on a full season of episodes in one night.  Or we can feed ourselves with movies until we can’t watch another. All for a simple monthly fee, an internet connection, and a monitor.  How crazy is it now that 2/3 of the internet traffic each night in the US is taken up by Netflix.  Totally wild and totally expected. Netflix has cornered the market on both distribution of existing content and now original content. And when creation is coupled with quality, we pay and we don’t think twice about it.  I don’t know anyone who is discussing that their Netflix monthly subscription is too high or not worth it anymore.  And you probably don’t know anyone who is saying that either. Is there something in our own business that we could imagine could be the Netflix of us?

What if we truly accepted that of our relationship with God is an all that we can consume kind of relationship like Netflix?  God has prepared for us the greatest offering and He gives it to us, all of it, at any time, with no restrictions.  It does make one wonder why we pay for what is offered and created within the world and we reject or ignore what is ours as an eternal gift that is so much greater than anything we could ever imagine?  What if today we pursue God as if there is more to ever experience and realize than we can ever imagine! So like we do with Netflix, let’s today binge on Jesus.
