day 2058: Travelers

“Hear my prayer, O Lord!  Listen to my cries for help!  Don’t ignore my tears.
For I am your guest—a traveler passing through,  as my ancestors were before me.”

Airbnb and others have created software and commerce platforms that allow people to open up their homes to travelers.  If you have ever rented at one of these locations, you know that many have a guest book in them that are filled with names of people from all over the world.  Usually a list of travelers just passing through.  The same can be said of our companies.  The difference is that there are no employee books that get filled in and retained for others to browse.  But, yes we are just corporate travelers, passing through.  But that doesn’t make it any less important that we give our best as if we weren’t just passing, but staying for good.

When we consider that we are being hosted in this life as God’s guest, then we have no choice but to honor all that we are given.  In our lives, if we turn our back on our host, then we probably don’t get invited back.  But, we are fortunate.  God doesn’t kick us out, He just keeps the door wide open for us to come in whenever we choose.  That only makes it more important why we should honor our Host each and every day.
