day 3K56: “Bleisure”

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

It’s not unusual to hear of someone mixing business and leisure.  Who hasn’t lengthened a business trip to take advantage of a weekend away or when on an extended business trip take some time to sight see or have the family tag along so they can enjoy a new country or city?  That has been pretty common since likely the beginning of business travel.  But, as was pointed out recently in a Quartz article, the new idea is deciding where we might go for leisure and then in that idyllic environment to work for a few additional days, or even weeks.  That is new, because now we can.  It takes a shift of thinking but the idea of “Bleisure” is an enticing one for sure.  A fellow Board Member of mine has been in Paris for better part of a year…working.  The leisure trip turned into long-term “Bleisure” and his reasoning was, “Why not?”

We have long sought the blending of our faith and work and I must say that I feel that today we are closer to that integration than I have ever experienced.  The Sunday to Monday gap feels like it continues to close as we find ways to integrate our faith into the work we do with a focus on “how” and “what” being more evident and important. Yes, if we choose we can merge our “Belief” into all aspect of our work and lives…so let’s continue to strive for our own “Belife”.

Hat tip to Chuck O. for pointing out that yesterday’s post I mentioned the wrong dollar store. “Rusty…Just a heads up I think it is Dollar Tree, not Dollar General, which recently announced the price hike from $1.00 to $1.25. They operate over 15,000 stores, formed in Chesapeke, VA in 1986.” Thanks Chuck!
