There is a seismic shift taking place in the world of road race running.  in 2016, Nike started the rollout of the “Super Shoes”.  These are shoes with carbon fiber insoles that are giving the runner a bit of “extra”.  And, world records are dropping over and over as these Nike Vapor Flys (and the updated version, the Next %) are becoming the dominant shoe among elite racers.  They have captured a market with the core users and at an expensive, but not too crazy, price point they are on their way to being the share leader among the broader market. Other brands are trying to catch up with their own technology but with each elite runner victory in the Nike shoes, it will become harder and harder for other brands to catch up.  As I understand it, the technology development for these carbon fiber shoes was decades in the making.  And then one day, they were ready and now seven years after launch, they have become “super shoes” that everyone wants.  These things take time and then comes the moment that they take off, if we stick with it.

We are also products of God’s development.  We don’t become what He wants us to be overnight.  Like a piece of technology, we go through stages of development and then we are given our moments that we reveal this development. The point here is that our growth in Christ is not immediate and we are, like the development of technology and product launches, something that needs to be stuck with to grow, day by day.  And when we do step into His shoes for us, it could be pretty super.
