day 3K304: The Fuller View Barcode

“So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”

Today when we see a barcode on a product we as consumers don’t know what to make of it other than we know that it is used for inventory management, pricing, etc. by the manufacturer and retailer.  But, that is about to change.  By 2027 what will be on every product that is sold at retail will be what looks more like today’s QR code, which when used, we as consumers will be able to access and learn about the product, even details of of where the product came from, who was involved in the creation, distribution, etc.  We will even be able to access ideas on how to better utilize the product (beyond how to wash, dry and iron or not).  It will be a big boon for those who are touting their sustainability efforts as we may well be able to see the whole supply chain.  I predict that there will emerge a new job and that will be something like, “Product Explainer” (hopefully ChatGPT doesn’t do all the work but I could see how it could) and we as a consumer will benefit.

Imagine that someone could hold up their phone’s camera to us today and up would pop up all there is to know about us.  If we had one of these new and coming barcodes that explained us, what would that other person see and learn about us?  It’s a rhetorical question for us to answer, but not really as everyday others are trying to figure us out and wonder, what makes us tick?  We do it to others, so of course others are doing it to us. The underlying question is when they look, what do they see of our Lord and how much of our life is surrendered to Him?
