“People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray.”
Daily now one of the social media companies will advertise about the need to update regulations surrounding the internet. Ironically, they are waiting for someone to tell them what to do, before doing what needs to be done on their own. It’s hard to find examples of companies wanting to be regulated but we are seeing it in areas where without clarity it becomes the wild west. Cryptocurrency is another area where those involved know that with regulatory standards they could move forward fast than they are today. When industries are asking for discipline, then it probably means that they could use it.
Imagine that we were to be people who welcomed and solicited discipline? Not punishment, but discipline that corrects us, makes us better, strengthens us, etc. Instead, we can become defensive when discipline and correction comes our way. The Proverb tells us that acceptance of discipline is a pathway to life. That’s pretty enticing. But, it’s hard and it means that we must surrender and humble ourselves before God to be in the right frame of mind to accept what we need to hear and know. Today, let’s see if we can move into that posture and then see what pathways open us for us.
