day 2847: Perseverance

“Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.”

We might only be a few more weeks away before ESPN and other sports channels will have live programming again enough to not rely on the reruns of the “best of” to make it through 24 hours or programming. I must admit, the stories that have been relived and retold have been inspiring as the best of memories have been the ones about the underdogs, the upsets and those who persevered to victory.  We need to be reminded of those moments to also inspire us to push through and not give up.  It’s not an easy time for anyone right now, but yes, we can persevere and even come out on the other side stronger, better and armed now with our own story to help ourselves and others through what might come in the future.

Paul was the poster image for perseverance so when he tells us that with God we can patiently endure what things we might suffer from, then we certainly can make it through. There is no doubt that our patience and perseverance is being tested right now, but Paul didn’t tell us that we could make it through, if it was not true.  So, let’s spend some time this weekend praying and contemplating on what it is that God wants us to rely on Him for so that we can receive His comfort to help us make it through.
