Sometimes it would be nice to just hear the plain truth with no spin, no editorializing, no pandering, no positioning or foreshadowing and no opinion attached. it’s hard to find, yes? And so, we end up not trusting or become skeptical and cynical about what we read, see or are told. Yet, this is who we are and how we are made; to question, ponder, wrestle, converse, debate (and yes sometimes argue – in a civil manner) until we come to our own conclusion with an informed and independent point of view. It’s really hard to put in the “thought work” to be independently minded, but it is what we must do if we are then to genuinely speak to what we think and believe.
God’s Word is filled with parables, mysteries, stories for our interpretation, etc. And then, when we are open and ready for it in spirit and timing, God will use His Word to just bluntly speak plain truth and exactly what we need in that moment. Today, He did so and His direction heading into this weekend couldn’t be better suited for right now:
“Be on guard. Stand true to what you believe. Be courageous. Be strong. And everything you do must be done with love.”
Have a great weekend!
