day 2551: Year-End Sprint

“Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.”

If you are like me, you have been peeking at your calendar and trying to figure out if you can get everything done that you need to accomplish by the end of the quarter and the end of the year.  It can look daunting to think that we are this close from closing the books on 2018.  Well, we are not alone as every company that has external shareholders to whom they report, are doing the same.  There are revenue, expense and profit targets to achieve and many are at an all-out dead sprint to the last financial deadline.  The good news is if we are deal closers, we know that the person on the other end of the deal is going through the same pressures we are.  Now is when some of the most creative and best deals get made.  Let’s keep our thinking hats on.

We might also be feeling like we are sprinting in our personal and spiritual lives to just keep up with pressure that work and the rest of the holiday seasons can put upon us. This is when sometimes it feels easier to just give up and drop out of the race, but that is not what God is asking of us.  He gave us guaranteed entry to His race and we chose to jump in and we are taught that all of the discipline, training and fueling is not at all in vain, but instead exactly how He wants us to run…that is all out towards and for Him!
