day 3K57: Flipping The Avatars

“We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.”

Ah yes, “Metaverse will try to become the word of 2022.  It is not a new term to me, since I read “Snow Crash” when it first was published in 1992 but for most it is the idea of the “next new thing”.  And, maybe it will be.  The idea of our real life selves living out a life with others as an Avatar sounds interesting and certainly can be the escape that many seek.  I won’t begin to predict the outcomes but I will say that we should always be reminded of the unintended consequences of our technology advancements and go into them eyes wide open.  What I am more intrigued about is the flipping of avatars where we could control physical technology that could be in the service of others.  This is being tested in Japan where people who suffer with MS or ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) are controlling robots that serve others in a restaurant.  It’s exciting to think that those who can’t do physical work will be able to do so from a wheelchair or their own bed by only using their eyes or their voice.

I’ve written before that we can become God’s Avatars if we allow ourselves to be so.  Imagine being so finely attuned to the Holy Spirit that He could work through us in all that we do?  That is what He seeks for us and He wants us to bring our work to Him so that He can guide and direct us in our conversations, decisions and actions each day and in each moment.
