day 2325: Extra Light

“I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.”

I’m not going to kid you, the older we get, the more we need a little extra light to see.  It’s not something that happens instantly, it actually sneaks up on us and more and more often we find yourself desiring a little more illumination.  The same can happen as organizations age.  Early on we didn’t mind fumbling in the darkness for direction or how to attack new problems.  But, as the organization ages, it demands more visibility into process, structure, procedures, etc. and people are hired to manage and lead those systems, thereby shining enough light on them so we all can see what is working or not.  Light can bring about new views and also invigorate us to want to do more.  Who are the sources or who is shining the lights in your organization? And, who makes sure that there is enough to see what needs to be seen?

We all need the light of Christ in our lives.  We do work in a dark world and it His light, shining through us, that can keep us on the right path to follow.  Let’s be sure that we are bringing His light to work with us today as it is not only us who are looking for more illumination in our lives.

PS: I am also excited today because it is the Winter Solstice above the equator….the days get longer from here on with more light every day!
