day 2224: Breaking 2

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

This past weekend, Nike tried to manufacture a first.  They assembled the best of athletes, location, technology, weather, equipment, etc. and sent a group of runners out to break the two-hour mark to finishing a 26.2 mile Marathon Distance.  They missed it by 25 seconds, but what a feat it was compared to the world record which is about 3 minutes slower (because of all the aid and creation of the conditions, the 2:00:25 doesn’t stand as a world record). I watched online with fascination and as a runner I tried to think what I could learn from all of this.  The most interesting part to me was that the runners had a car in front of them that beamed onto the ground a path of light in front of them and that path had a pace calculation so that they could know where they were time-wise at all times.  Having that path in front of anyone of us, pacing our work and keeping us focused would be a great thing.  In our world this would be keeping goals, objectives, progress and results in front us and then singularly following them until we have finished what we set out to accomplish.

God gives us a personalized path for us. He tells us that His Word is the lamp for our feet to follow.  If we allow Him to carry the light for us and we focus and follow we might just be surprised at how we start to move along.
