day 2051: Grace Periods

“He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.”

One of my portfolio companies asked for a “grace period” to finish a financial projection they needed to make. They were asking this of us, the board of directors.  When asked that way, unless it causes huge issues or there have been multiple examples of missed deadlines, then it’s hard to say “No”.   Why?  Because we all need a “grace period” now and then.  I know I have to ask more often than I wish.  As a one-man band these days, I find myself overextended and up against missed deadlines.  So, those “grace periods” end up being real God sends for me.  So, if you need a “grace period”, ask for it.  But please, don’t abuse them because all the rest of us need them too occasionally.

God promises us grace.  But He also promises glory.  And that promise comes in the same sentence from the Psalms. Followed by that we are told that He will not withhold good from those who do right.  So, every day, God provides “grace periods” for us. In fact we can call upon His grace continuously and He never tires, bores, or rejects our call for His grace upon our lives. He just delivers upon our request.
