day 1428: Knock, Knock, Knock On…

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

Imagine what it would be like if we were to go to a store and there was a glass door and printed on the door was,  “Customer Service”, or “Customer Support” and behind it there was a man sitting at the desk, looking out at us.  He can see us and we can see him.  We stand at the door, knocking, knocking and knocking. But he doesn’t move.  He doesn’t respond. And still we knock because we have a problem that needs to be solved.  But, he never gets up from his desk to come to the door to respond.  Ridiculous, huh?  Of course it is crazy, but it’s not that far off of what happens when we call a customer support line and get a voicemail that never gets returned, or we do the same with an email that never gets answered.  This happened to me a few weeks ago when I tried to get customer support from a company that provides home weather stations.  After multiple emails and calls, I finally just threw the device away (it was out of warranty), did my research on who their largest competitor is, and bought that brand.  After a while customers will stop knocking and go elsewhere.  Do we care?  We should!

I woke up this AM with someone on my mind that needs healing and thus prayer.  I felt God reminding me that He is always knocking on the door for me to open so that I can trust and rely on Him.  God is so great that way in that He not only allows for us to answer, but to ask.  I chide myself for not keeping that door wide and open at all times!  Today, God is knocking. He wants to be there for us with each meeting, decision and conversation.  Let’s let the door swing open His way!
