day 2099: One Place

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

One of the companies where I sit on the Board of Directors (workboard)  did a recent customer interview with one of the company’s CEO.  A comment he made was not only very insightful about the company, but also about all things in business.  He said, “Everything important is in one place”.  Think about that for a moment. In fact, it is true that we tend to put what we think is important in one place.  I’m not saying this example is the right thing to do, but most companies have their senior executives all sit near each other.  Maybe it is because they want them all in one place.  While we want to allow technology and other productivity and efficiency tools to distribute us geographically, we do tend to naturally return to this CEO’s axiom that “Everything important is in one place”.  It’s something for us to consider.

So what do we know about ourselves attempting to work to bring glory to God in our everyday work lives?  If we pay attention to how we organize ourselves we might find that what is important to us we do need to bring together in one place.  God tells us that our hearts are where those things that matter for eternity needs to reside.  What do we have stored in our hearts and what are we paying attention to that is outside of our hearts?  As we start this workweek it might be a good time to do some rearranging to make sure that everything that is really important to us is in the one right place.
