day 1567: Deflate and Conflate

“Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.”

A couple of weeks ago, it was all about the deflation of footballs for The New England Patriots to gain an advantage in their win over Indianapolis.  A few weeks later it’s all about the conflation of the truth by NBC News Anchor, Brian Williams.  What is clear from both is that truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.  in both events is that something dishonest happened in order to move forward an advantage of the offending parties.  What this should remind us all is that there is nothing that cannot be discovered in today’s age and any time a company or person tries to advantage themselves dishonestly, they put themselves and their organizations at very high risk.

I know I write a lot about the higher standard that we must hold ourselves to and that when I lean into this too much, I lose a reader or two.  I understand that as none of like to be boxed in or confined in our actions, but in fact, God challenges us each and every day with the temptations that are set in front of us.  When we cut that corner or tell that lie, it gets amplified because our story is one that is supposed to be grounded in the One who is the Truth of life. Let’s remain cautious and diligent in our actions today so that others see the truth reflected through us.
