day 2258: Timing

“A loud and cheerful greeting early in the morning will be taken as a curse!”

Wow, there is a lot of news, noise and consternation over the timing of meetings and conversations! Seems we can’t turn on or open the news that the “when” is just as dominating of a problem as the “what”.  Consider that the timing of all things we do is more critical than we might give it credit. A well-spoken word, but given at the wrong time can turn sour.  Or a late response can be devastating. Who in your organization is watching over, and even teaching others, on how to ensure that the timing is right?

I recently missed two important emails. They wouldn’t normally be a big deal, but embedded in the body of the first one was informing me of a tragedy that happened in someone’s life.  By my not responding, I have risked looking insensitive, uncaring or worse yet, self-centered. I hope to rectify it today with an apologetic phone call, but I am reminded by this that as we strive to walk as a follower of Jesus, that our timing in the treatment of others puts not only our own reputations at risk, but also makes vulnerable our witness and testimony for Him.
