day 3K350: When The Lights Go Out

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

The end of the incandescent lightbulb has come.  From now on, we will be buying more energy efficient (and longer lasting) LEDs bulbs. And these bulbs will become smarter and smarter, allowing us to do much more than turning on, off or dimming.  It also makes me wonder if generations from now what will Thomas Edison’s invention mean to those who have never seen an incandescent bulb?  It will happen.  Potentially they even become collector’s items that only can be found in museums.  Hard to imagine, but not all that we know lasts, and eventually the lights will go out for most companies too. Sure, there a few Chinese companies that have been around for over 500 years but for the rest of us a lifetime of ours equaling the lifespan of a company is a real accomplishment.  Let’s keep striving for breaking the norm, but also realizing that all will change at some point.

There is only one light that never goes out and doesn’t even flicker and that is the light of God. It’s all we can count on truly and what a blessing to know that His light for our paths, our life and our future shines as brightly today as it ever did and ever will.  Let’s seek to walk in that light!
