day 1981: Humility

“Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.”

The Pope arrived in America yesterday and whenever asked to describe him, the word, “humble” is used.  how many times do we describe our own leaders, whether it be in business or politics as humble?  Not often enough.  I’ve heard many reasons why someone doesn’t want to follow another person, but never has someone said, “She/he is too humble”.  We need more humility in the workplace to bring out the best in all of us.

“Pray for me” is what the Pope asked from the teacher who was lined up on the street side to shake the Pope’s hand as he walked by.  Maybe this is what we all need as we try to bring glory to God through our jobs and our work.  Is there someone today that we need to be asking them to pray for us? That little bit of humility could be what could make a difference.
