day 2818: Staking Out The Future

“But while they were still in Canaan, and when they came to a place called Geliloth near the Jordan River, the men of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh stopped to build a large and imposing altar.”

As we begin to turn the corner on recovery what everyone wants (and needs) is a glimpse of the future.  Nothing creates hope better than a clear vision and path forward to that vision.  Few are ever 100% perfect in describing a future as it actually will unfold, but those who have the courage to try are the ones that others will follow and give their all to help make that future come alive.  Trying to manage the present without vision of the future will just leave everyone unmotivated.

Even the Israelites realized that they needed to stake out the future when they created the altar named “Witness”. It was a bold move because what if they never made it back there and that altar would be used against them to embarrass or prove that they had failed, etc.  That’s the risk they and we take when we are bold for what we believe and for what we know God can do. Ours is a bright future and let’s not be fearful in staking it out so others can watch God at work.
