day 2064: Grounded

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

As we walk through our careers we will run into those people who are able to carry themselves through just about anything almost as if they are floating above the ground, above the fray and can’t be pulled down.  And they get reputations of being ones who can maneuver through just about anything.  But, is this who really relate to and when the chips are down can be counted upon?  No, not really.  Who we relate to are those who are daily grounded in who they are and in the importance of others.  And, those are the people we gravitate towards and become the people who we want to be with, care about, and work with for a long time. Yes, being grounded is a real advantage for those who are.

This last weekend at my church, I was honored to be a part of kicking off V2 of our Life App Series. You can follow along over the next four weeks here. During my speaking time I commented that one of the reasons that we need to care about how we conduct ourselves in our everyday lives (work, relationships, family, etc.) is because Jesus didn’t just stay in heaven or sit on a cloud above us, He grounded Himself onto the same earth that we each walk today. And, if He walked the earth for 33 years as He did, we can do our best to walk in His way.  So, there is another reason today for us to stay grounded and focused on Him, not on the things that take us away from our grounding.
