day 1467: Every Day Matters

“For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.”

One of the hotels I stayed in last week while in Ireland would leave a card on the bed each night with the turn down service.  These cards would be inspirational sayings,  usually about sleep and rest, and this one caught my attention. It is a quote from the late Steve Jobs, “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.”  We can debate whether what Steve did daily mattered in the larger scheme of things, but without a doubt against many standards, he did make a difference that mattered and did some wonderful things for all of us.  Regardless of the size of our job, or the company that we work for, or what we do, we can do things that matter, each and every day.  Our work matters not always because of what we do, but also because of how we go about doing what we do.  We each can make today matter!  Let’s do so.

As we go about finding and doing what matters, then we must also know and remember that God can do something through us each and every day!  He calls those acts out as things that we couldn’t believe if we were told. Let’s be open to the possibilities that God has for us as we make every day, and particularly this day, matter!
