day 1529: Getting Lost At The Logo

“I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means, save some.”

We need a logo, so let’s design one ASAP!”  Famous words of many a businessperson.  Whether the logo be for the company, or for a product, service, or department, or program, we always feel like we need a logo.  Why?  Well pictures, as we know evoke emotion and feeling.  We can look at a strong logo and it makes us confident.  The weak logo does the opposite.  But, the logo by itself doesn’t tell the whole story and once tarnished by the words that are spoken or written of failure, or greed, or crime, or insensitivity, the logo starts to stand for that, not what we want.  So, the logo matters, but the words and the actions behind them matter a whole lot more.

Paul wrote, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means, save some.”  I take this that there are many ways to reach others for Christ and that picture, song, movie, etc., might be the tenderizer that opens one to more.  But, at the end of the day the mightiness of God’s Word, His words, and our testimony of a life changed is what moves others to God.  I love that we have a surge of faith-based (if not Bible based movies) coming into the market. When done well, they can be educational, informing and moving, but at the end of the day, no movie or picture, or logo will be as good as the Book!
