day 1907: One Day Difference

“…I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.”

Last week a friend was involved in a CEO shakeup.  No one saw it coming.  Everyone was in a state of shock.  In an email I got the note said, “What a difference a day makes”.  This is how life works but every time we run into one of these changes or occurrences that seem to come from out of the blue we are knocked back.  In reality, decisions are made every day that change the course of a direction or an event happens that makes us have to shift our positions significantly.  We will never be able to see them all coming, but we can be ready at all times for change and acceptance to change.  Are our organizations, and are we, flexible enough for when the day brings a change?

Paul teaches us that we can be ready and that we can find contentment through Christ in whatever situation.  Yet, that demands on our full faith to be so and that is our challenge.  None of us likes to be rocked or shocked, but when we are we can persevere because we have His arms to reach out and catch us.  Everyday, can be His day, so one day’s difference means little in His eternal plan for us.
